New budget fiscal officer for the College of Arts and Sciences announced

The College of Arts and Sciences announces Catherine Harris as the new budget fiscal officer. She will start on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Harris has a background in higher education and most recently served as executive business manager in the University of Wyoming's College of Agriculture. In that position, she managed budgetary and human resource responsibilities, oversaw a recurring salary budget of $30 million and support budget of $27 million, and worked directly with the dean to align resources, systems and employees to meet strategic objectives and priorities within the college.
"We're very excited to welcome Catherine to the ArtSci family," said Dean Amit Chakrabarti. "Her previous experiences and expertise in budgetary analysis will be an immense help to our college."
Harris earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Wyoming and has experience in multiple areas within that university including 11 years with the Vice President for Research Office and three years in the Vice President for Administration office.
As budget fiscal officer, Harris will provide support and leadership for the College of Arts and Sciences in all aspects of managing the business affairs and administrative functions of the college, which includes overseeing the operation of its 26 units. She will direct all human resource functions of the college that includes the two Shared Service Centers.
The budget fiscal officer is responsible for preparing the annual budget and administering the current budget of more than $60 million dollars. Harris will work directly with deans, unit leaders and departmental staff to ensure the compliance of administrative and personnel policies of K-State and the state of Kansas.
