Updates to Community Engagement Symposium and Opportunities Fair
Submitted by Donna Schenck-Hamlin
Following campus recommendations related to the novel coronavirus, the Center for Engagement and Community Development is canceling the face-to-face Community Engagement Symposium scheduled for March 23-24.
Instead, an online version of the symposium between April and June will offer posted presentations and text interaction on "Student Success and the Public Good," a theme that has generated vigorous response in proposals from multiple states. Global Campus will continue to register participants for the extended online "class" version of the symposium at the reduced rate of $25. Students register for free.
"We regret that we had to make this decision, but health and safety concerns are paramount, and we wanted to act in a timely manner," said David Procter, center director.
Everyone is encouraged to visit the program and to register from www.k-state.edu/cecd/2020-engagement-symposium/.
A related event, the March 19 Community Engagement Opportunities Fair, will be postponed to a date later this semester pending university guidelines for interactive events. View a listing of community organizations students are encouraged to contact for volunteer and internship opportunities.
