An update on the development of a Student Success Canvas Course
Submitted by Stephanie J. Bannister
In January, a strategy team comprised of student life, student success, enrollment management and advising community representatives — in partnership with Student Governing Association and supported by Central Information Technology — convened to develop a Student Success Canvas Course. This Canvas course will serve as a centralized connection point to student success resources and avenues of support for K-State students.
The strategy team seeks to gather input as it develops and pilots a Canvas resource, or course, beginning fall 2020 for all first-year and transfer students with the eventual goal of enrolling all students at K-State in the course. Students report that Canvas provides the perfect location for quick connections to resources. We know there are a variety of optional syllabi statements, but students often do not fully utilize these statements. The Canvas course can bridge this gap.
Canvas usage is a critical driver to student success, and with our current dependence on virtual learning spaces, providing a central source of quick success resource connections is critical. The Student Success Canvas Course strategy team is hosting listening sessions via Zoom to gather university community input into the development and deployment of this resource. Interested colleagues are invited to participate and attend one of the virtual listening sessions below:
