Entomologist presents keynote address at Brazilian symposium
Marcelo Ortigao, assistant professor of entomology, was invited to present the keynote address at a July 20 symposium on bioinformations in Recife, Brazil.
His address was "Sequencing data overload? Making sense of what may be important to you." The symposium, "Il Curso de Bioinformatica: Analises de Dados Moleculares," was organized jointly by the department of genetics at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil, and the department of immunology at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. The Federal University of Pernambuco ranks among the top Brazilian universities and is ninth in size and scientific production. The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation is a scientific institution for research and development in biomedical sciences. Located in Recife, it is considered on the world's main public health research institutions.
