New guidance for international students
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
On July 6, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, or SEVP, through the U.S. Customs and Enforcement Program in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, issued a revision for the fall 2020 semester that rescinds the prior temporary adaptations during the 2020 spring and summer semesters. International Student and Scholar Services has been in email contact with K-State's international students regarding this change.
Based on a preliminary review of the new guidance, students currently in the U.S. and enrolled full time at K-State should be able to continue their education here under the university’s current fall 2020 plan to provide in-person, hybrid and online opportunities for students, which fulfills the SEVP requirements.
Any student currently outside the U.S. and unable to return should contact their academic advisor to discuss online enrollment options. Additionally, international student advisors in International Student and Scholar Services will need to be informed if a student plans to remain outside the U.S. for the fall term and can discuss any related impacts to immigration status.
ISSS staff is working to reissue I-20s for F-1 students who will be in the U.S. for the fall term. Students, faculty and staff should contact International Student and Scholar Services at isss@k-state.edu with any questions or concerns.
