Virtual open forum to discuss new Title IX regulations
Submitted by Office of Institutional Equity
The university will host a virtual open forum at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to explain the new federal requirements under revised Title IX regulations. The forum will be streamed on the Office of Institutional Equity website. Access will require signing in with a K-State eID.
The Department of Education released its final Title IX regulations on May 6, and the Office of Institutional Equity published revisions to Kansas State University's "Policy Prohibiting, Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Harassment, and Procedure for Reviewing Complaints" on Aug. 14. The revised policy reflects the federally required changes and can be found in Chapter 3010 of the university's Policy and Procedure Manual.
"At the core of our policy is a commitment to improving how we report and respond to incidents involving our students, faculty and staff," said Scott Jones, director for the Office of Institutional Equity. "With the initial deadline for compliance met, we plan for the policy and procedures to continue to evolve as we move forward in the implementation of the new regulations."
The virtual open forum is an opportunity for the campus community to learn more about the revised policy and offer comment on its operational aspects. To learn more about the new Title IX regulations, please refer to the Aug. 14 K-State Today article.
Those with questions regarding the open forum should contact the Office of Institutional Equity at 785-532-6220 (TRS 711) or equity@k-state.edu.
