Oberrieder receives 2020 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching Award
Heidi Oberrieder, instructor in the food, nutrition, dietetics and health department in the College of Health and Human Sciences, has been selected as the recipient of one of two 2020 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching awards.
The excellence in online teaching award is given to an instructor or faculty member who practices quality methods of online teaching; has a high level of teaching effectiveness as evidenced through students meeting learning objectives and use of student-centered approaches; demonstrates a concern for student development and learning through student mentoring; and practices and implements innovation in course delivery.
In the materials submitted for Oberrieder's nomination, it was noted that, "One of Heidi's strengths is her innovation in course design. For example, her courses present material in an organized fashion and provide consistent feedback to students throughout the semester. Her signature course format is carried through all four courses that she teaches, allowing students who take a second and third course with her to immediately feel comfortable with navigating the course website, syllabus, and expectations. In all, Heidi has instituted changes that resulted in increased engagement with students and measures of student success."
"Global Campus is proud to honor the excellent work of innovative and student-centered instructors through this award. Outstanding instruction and student mentoring are the backbone of successful online programs," said Karen Pedersen, dean of K-State Global Campus.
