Exchange agreement between Kansas State and International University of Central Asia
A formal exchange agreement has been finalized between Kansas State and International University of Central Asia, or IUCA, in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan. This agreement makes student exchanges possible and will also facilitate joint faculty research projects.
International University of Central Asia is a new English language university that should be appealing to students looking for an adventure and for study in areas such as International Relations, Far Eastern Studies, and Central Asian Languages — including Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik, Dungan as well as Russian.
The Kyrgyz Republic — population 5.5 million — is the only democracy in the region and shares borders with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. Often called “the Switzerland of Central Asia,” Kyrgyzstan’s many mountains include the famous “Lenin Peak” which stands in at over 23,000 feet. This agreement was facilitated by K-State alumnus Bakyt Omurzakov, political science, and Jon Mahoney, associate professor of philosophy.
