Abstract: The health care industry is changing at a dramatic rate. The rapidly evolving technological landscape offers novel opportunities to solve previously unsolvable problems. In particular, the opportunity to use data to dramatically improve patient outcomes remains an unachieved goal. In this talk, Ben-Arieh will examine big data and its application in health care. Ben-Arieh will discuss the intersection and interdependence of data management, clinical analytics and data science. He will review a couple of examples of how they have used the latest technologies to advance patient care and improve both clinical and financial outcomes. And they will look at technology positions in this space and the skills employers seek.

Ben-Arieh has been building health care analytics and business intelligence departments for provider groups, health plans, and technology companies for almost 20 years, including at Kaiser Permanente, Tufts Health Plan and Mass General Brigham. Before joining Iora Health, Ben-Arieh was the senior director of clinical analytics at Eliza Corp., a leading health care engagement organization, where he led the data management, clinical analytics and data science functions. In 2019 Ben-Arieh was invited to the White House to participate in the introduction of the CMS program "Data at the Point of Care." Ben-Arieh holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
