Sexuality and Gender Alliance to present Ally Cats panel
The Kansas State University Sexuality and Gender Alliance, or SAGA, will host the annual Ally Cats event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, via Zoom. Ally Cats is an organized panel discussion focusing on how students, faculty and staff of K-State can become better allies to the LGBTQ+ community.
The panel will feature topics such as navigation of sexuality and gender identity in the classroom, developing skills to discuss sexuality and gender identity in majority identity spaces, and ways that community members can become active allies.
Register for the Ally Cats panel online.
SAGA organizes this event as an informational outreach to the K-State community. Panelists will reflect on how allyship from peers, faculty and the campus community can help in creating an affirming environment for historically underrepresented or erased identities. The event will include a presentation on identities within the sexuality and gender identity spectrum — a tutorial on language associated with LGBTQ+ communities. The event will also feature breakout sessions for participants to have in-depth conversations on identity and how allies to the LGBTQ+ community can further educate themselves and advocate for the equity of all.
