Plant pathology student receives travel award
Ananda Bandara, graduate student in Plant Pathology, has been awarded a travel grant to attend and present at the Conference on Soilborne Plant Pathogens March 26-28 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore.
While there, Bandara will present resistance screening work concerning the soilborne charcoal rot and Fusarium stalk rot pathogens of sorghum. Stalk rots are major diseases of sorghum worldwide and cause millions of dollars worth of annual yield loss in Kansas.
Bandara is pursuing a doctorate under the supervision of Chris Little, assistant professor of plant pathology.
