Graduate student in mechanical engineering earns first place in poster competition
Kansas State University doctoral candidate Davi Soares was awarded first place in the Material Advantage Graduate Student Poster Competition, a part of the Materials Science and Technology Technical Meeting and Exhibition, hosted virtually Nov. 2-6.
Soares' entry was titled "Silicon carbon nitride and silicon oxycarbide functionalization of molybdenum disulfide as stable battery electrodes." His advising professor is Gurpreet Singh, associate professor and designee of the Harold O. and Jane C. Massey Neff professorship in the Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.
The Materials Science and Technology Conference series was established in 2003 and is organized by several leading materials science-related societies including the American Ceramic Society, Association for Iron and Steel Technology, and Minerals, Metals and Materials Society.
