Campus community invited to participate in future-focused presentation

Jim Fong

Global Campus invites the campus community to join us for a presentation by Jim Fong, chief research officer for UPCEA and founding director of UPCEA's Center for Research and Strategy, on pandemic implications for higher education.

Titled "Thriving in a Post-Pandemic World: Research Implications for Higher Education," the virtual presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13. There is no cost to attend, but participants must pre-register by Monday, July 12, to receive the presentation link.

As society emerges from this pandemic, we are finding a very different world than when we left it more than 15 months ago. Online education was the lifeline for many institutions struggling against competition and unfavorable demographics. New programs will need to match the needs of the marketplace, as online has become a commodity. The world has changed dramatically as a result of the pandemic and higher education must change with it. Fortunately, UPCEA and its member institutions have been slowly preparing for this; however, the pace has now picked up. This presentation will look at major factors, opportunities, threats and disruptions for higher education institutions and their professional, continuing and online education units to consider as they plan for a new, faster-paced future.

Before joining UPCEA, Fong was the director of marketing, research and planning for Penn State University Outreach, where he helped with the launch of the university's World Campus. Before Penn State, he worked as an analyst for a number of consulting and marketing companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Vermont.
