K-State Theatre announces fall 2021 auditions for all
Submitted by Professor Jerry Jay Cranford
Auditions for K-State Theatre's fall 2021 season will take place from 7-10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, on the Mark A. Chapman Theatre stage in Nichols Hall. Auditions are open to all K-State students.
Please prepare one contemporary monologue, under two minutes in length. Non-majors, there will be material available for you to read for the audition panel. While some walk-ins are available, please sign up for an audition time and fill out the conflict information form at kstatemtd.com/audition-details.
Please note: Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, students auditioning should arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before their audition time. You may be asked to wait outside the front door.
Callbacks will be on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with cast lists posted on Friday. Note that K-State's Ebony Theatre will host auditions in September for its reading of the 2021 Yale Drama Winning play, "Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (You Too, August Wilson)."
The opening production, "Working the Musical" with music by James Taylor, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers and Stephen Schwartz, has already been cast.
The fall 21 shows auditioning:
"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley, adapted by Austin Tichenor and directed by Chuck Leonard, instructor of theatre, opening Oct. 28-Nov. 7 on the Mainstage season; "Crooked" by Catherine Trieschmann, directed by Jillian Sommeraurer, senior in theatre, performing Oct. 12-17 in the Purple Masque Second Stage series; and an evening of two original one-acts from K-State drama therapy graduate students, "Illusions of Hope and Despair" by Jared Adams along with "The Ups & Downs of Tom" by Conrad Schmechel.
We hope you'll audition for this special return to live performance as we celebrate life, love and our human experience.
