Saucier to present 'Bringing PEACE and Empathy to Our Teaching' TLC Professional Development event today
Submitted by Teaching and Learning Center
As part of the Teaching and Learning Center's professional development series, Don Saucier, faculty associate director of the Teaching and Learning Center, will present "Bringing PEACE and Empathy to Our Teaching" from noon to 1 p.m. today, Sept. 1, via Zoom.
The success of our students begins with us. The teaching personas and philosophies that we use to design and teach our courses can inspire teaching practices that support our students' learning and success. Saucier believes that PEACE — or Preparation, Expertise, Authenticity, Caring, and Engagement — provides an excellent foundation for teaching personas and philosophies that will support our students' learning and success. Saucier will discuss concrete ways to infuse PEACE and empathy into our courses at all levels — from our syllabus statements; to our course scheduling, structure, and policies; to our course assignments and assessments. Saucier will provide links to web and video resources that provide ideas about how to infuse PEACE and empathy into our teaching. Saucier also looks forward to hearing your ideas about how to bring PEACE and empathy to our teaching.
