Piano professor Slawomir Dobrzanski releases new CD
Submitted by Slawomir Dobrzanski
Slawomir Dobrzanski, professor of piano in Kansas State University's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, released a new world-premiere CD recording of piano works by Károly Aggházy, 1855-1918.
The disc was published by the London, United Kingdom, based recording label Acte Prealable. This recording constitutes the first-ever commercial release of this unknown piano repertoire.
Aggházy, one the most accomplished among Hungarian piano students of Franz Liszt, was primarily known in Europe as duo partner of the legendary violin virtuoso Yenö Hubay, 1858-1937. Aggházy also served as piano professor at conservatories in Berlin and Budapest. His music was published in Budapest, Berlin, Leipzig, and in St Louis, Missouri.
The production of this CD was partially funded by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Kansas State University.
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Visit k-state.edu/mtd/ to learn more.
