Teaching and Learning Center shares video resources for writing teaching statements
Submitted by Teaching and Learning Center
We hope your fall semester has been off to a wonderful start. It's hard to believe we are already in the application season for many teaching jobs that will begin next year. That said, the Teaching and Learning Center reminds you of our commitment to supporting teaching excellence. As a part of Don Saucier's YouTube channel, Engage the Sage, the TLC team has created several video resources to support you during the application process.
Below are three videos relevant for instructors applying for teaching jobs:
Statements of teaching philosophy are often used when applying for teaching jobs, tenure and promotion, and/or teaching awards. Our "Writing Excellent Statements of Your Teaching Philosophy" video provides five specific recommendations for how you can do this well.
In academia, we are often asked to provide evidence of our teaching excellence. Our "Demonstrating Your Teaching Excellence" videos — Part One and Part Two — provide several concrete recommendations for how you can demonstrate your teaching excellence. We are striving to demonstrate teaching excellence, not effectiveness!
We hope these video resources are helpful for you as you navigate the application process. Please share with any colleagues who may benefit and let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to continuing our support of graduate students and instructors at the TLC. Best of luck with your applications!
