David Sheppard to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar
David Sheppard, professor of physiology at the University of Bristol, will present "Cystic Fibrosis: Rescuing Faulty Channels with Targeted Therapies" for the Anatomy and Physiology Seminar at noon Tuesday, Nov. 9, via Zoom. Please note this is a different time than usual.
Sheppard investigates the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, or CFTR, its dysfunction in cystic fibrosis and rescue with small molecules. His interest in cystic fibrosis began by studying intestinal ion channels with Francisco V. Sepúlveda, AFRC Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetic Research, Babraham. After completing his doctorate, Sheppard investigated neuronal ion channels with Fernando Giraldez, Valladolid University, before studying CFTR with Michael J. Welsh, University of Iowa. Returning to the U.K., Sheppard was a BBSRC Advance Research fellow at the University of Edinburgh before joining the University of Bristol.
