Internal search underway for interim vice president of communications and marketing

President Richard Myers announces a search for the interim vice president of communications and marketing, or VPCM. This will be an internal search open to current and qualified employees of Kansas State University. The anticipated start date is Jan. 9, 2022.
The interim VPCM will take over leadership for Jeff Morris, who is retiring effective March 19, 2022. A national search will be conducted later for the permanent vice president with more details on that search to be announced in the future.
The interim VPCM reports directly to the president, serves on the president's cabinet and is the senior communications advisor to university leadership. The interim VPCM leads collaborative efforts to create and manage a unified, institutional brand strategy for the university and university-level presence in all media. The interim VPCM defines creative strategy at the university level and drives alignment with campuses, colleges, departments and other major units.
In addition, the interim VPCM will lead the internal strategic communications team to provide reputation management, crisis communications and proactive public relations efforts. This includes primary responsibility for internal communications at the institutional level. The interim VPCM will also maintain strategic relationships with external communications partners, including K-State Athletics, K-State Alumni Association, KSU Foundation, Kansas Board of Regents and other key constituents
