Final Safe Zone Advanced Workshops of the semester
Please join Safe Zone for the last two Safe Zone Advanced Workshops of the semester. Both events will take place next week. Please see below a synopsis, registration link, and details about both events. We hope you can join us for these upcoming events.
Beyond the Buzz Words: How to Make Sense of PPM 3010
Monday, Dec. 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.
Synopsis: PPM 3010 is lengthy, complex and often misunderstood. Additionally, many of our community members are not sure what the policy covers beyond the buzz words, such as "hostile environment," "discrimination," or "harassment." What do these terms mean? What other types of conduct should you report to the Office of Institutional Equity? Join director/Title IX coordinator Stephanie Lott as they explain PPM 3010 using accessible language, and share concrete examples of behavior that the office can review. Lott will also share how to show up as the best version of yourself for someone else who needs your help. The Office of Institutional Equity will share tips and tricks to have a successful interaction that is supportive and meaningful.
Thursday, Dec. 9, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. via Zoom
Synopsis: This workshop will introduce and define ageism, particularly in the context of the university. Together, we will learn and discuss how ageism is manifested and how it can impact our classrooms, workplaces, communities and our own aging experience. We will also discuss how to begin to combat ageism by dispelling myths, breaking down barriers and stereotypes, and shifting our own attitudes about aging.
