Call for KAWSE ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series applications
The K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, or KAWSE, issues the request for proposals for the spring 2022 ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series awards. The KAWSE office works to increase the participation, retention and advancement of girls and women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The purpose of this series is to encourage tenure-track faculty members in STEM departments to make new professional connections. These colleagues may become valuable mentors or research collaborators who can provide advice on manuscripts and grant proposals and may serve as outside references for tenure applications.
Up to $1,200 will be provided by the KAWSE office to support each speaker. The deadline for the submission of proposals is Feb. 11, 2022, for visits scheduled Aug. 22, 2022, through May 5, 2023. Preference will be given to first-time applicants and the number of awards is contingent on funding.
For tips on hosting a speaker, eligible departments, a sample application and more, visit the ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series webpage. Questions may be directed to kawse@k-state.edu.
KAWSE will also host an ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series Panel Discussion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, in 2124 Regnier Hall. At this event, previous ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series award recipients will provide tips for successful applications and visits with mentors. Please RSVP by Jan. 20, 2022, to attend as lunch will be provided for all attendees.
