Ackerman presents 'Online Learning and Plain Language Principles' TLC professional development event today
Submitted by Teaching and Learning Center
As part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series, Pat Ackerman, professor of integrated studies, will present "Online Learning and Plain Language Principles" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, via Zoom.
Preparing students to contribute to the societies in which they live and work is a key tenet of K-State’s academic vision. The societies in which students learn, live and work have changed dramatically since March 2020. Rapid shifts to online learning platforms place unprecedented demands on faculty, students, staff and resources. As we process what these shifts mean for the future of higher education, Ackerman invites teaching faculty to examine their online teaching practice through the lens of Plain Language Principles. She will discuss the history of readability analysis, the role of technical writing in online learning, and how the Principles of Plain Language can help students find, understand and use important information more effectively.
The events in the Professional Development Series are free and no registration is required. We hope to see you there.
