Submitted by Jerry Jay Cranford
Do you love musical theatre? Join K-State Theatre for "Big Apple Songs in the Little Apple," featuring 20 songs from 19 musicals performed by 12 students from K-State's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. This event is free and is at 7:30 p.m. April 9 at the Purple Masque Theatre in West Memorial Stadium.
As part of the Advanced Acting Musical Theatre course, students research the history of their assigned musicals leading to the performance of solos, duets and group numbers with a focus on storytelling through song. The musicals featured are a wide range of classic to contemporary Broadway and off-Broadway pieces.
All musical numbers are curated by Jerry Jay Cranford, associate professor of music, theatre, and dance, with musical accompaniment by student Jacob Ross Thomas. Students performing will be Payton Boldt, Masie Dulitz, Rachel Kuenzi, Annelise Mock, Michael Pierce, Matthew Robison, Dustin Schneider, Drew Scrivner, Francis Sheehan, Tara Sitzmann-Dahling, Ana Vasquez, Kate Westhoven and Jackson Wilks.
