Kansas Board of Regents April meeting agenda items

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet Wednesday, April 20, on the Fort Hays State University campus. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.
The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University at the meeting.
Consent agenda
K-State requests approval to offer a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in advertising and publications beginning summer 2022. Additionally, K-State requests approval to offer a Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity beginning fall 2022.
K-State requests approval to amend the fiscal year 2023 capital improvement project plan and to accept the program statement for the West Seaton Hall second floor renovation. The project will renovate and modernize space utilized by the GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science. The estimated project cost is $4.5 million and will be funded from private gifts.
Discussion agenda
The Regents will receive the 2022 state university program review reports. Program review ensures program quality by enabling universities to align academic programs with institutional missions and priorities, fostering improvement in curriculum and instruction and effectively coordinating the use of faculty time and talent. K-State submitted 29 degree programs for review from the College of Arts and Sciences. View a PDF of K-State’s program recommendations.
The board will receive the first read and discuss capital improvements requests for fiscal year 2024 and five-year plans.
The Regents will receive the first read and discuss the university facility guidelines. The guidelines are intended to support the board’s facilities capital renewal initiative by defining minimum requirements for processes, procedures and reporting, as well as identifying and encouraging best practices for a sustained strategic approach to campus facilities planning and space management in support of each university’s institutional mission.
President Richard Linton will request approval to name the new Olympic training facility.
