Advisor Forum presents May Charlie Award
Submitted by Katelin Christianer-Donkers
The K-State Advisor Forum has selected Jill Parker, academic advisor for personal financial planning, for the May Charlie Award.
Parker was nominated by Kiley Moody, managing director of scholar services, for this award because "she is a phenomenal advisor who cares for each individual student."
Parker is celebrated for going "above and beyond to care for and support students. Jill approaches situations from an asset-based lens and uses language to ensure students know she and others want to help and support and are not shaming or judging. Jill empowers students and does not give up on students when one or two outreaches do not work. Jill is consistent and persistent with her outreach and always leads with 'We are here to support you and want what is best for you.'"
When working with student challenges, "Jill provides grace, support, and connection in every communication and circles back with the individuals and entities who have also been working with the student. She is a phenomenal advisor who cares for each individual student. I appreciate Jill's professionalism and collaborative approach as she understands a holistic approach to supporting students and connecting them to resources."
"Jill is the epitome of what advisors should know, do, and value. She is a tremendous asset to not only personal financial planning and the College of Health and Human Sciences, but to K-State as a whole."
The K-State Advisor Forum thanks Parker for her hard work and support for students and congratulates her on this award.
