Newmark receives 2022 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching Award
Gregory Newmark has been selected as the recipient of one of two 2022 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching awards. Newmark is an assistant professor in the landscape architecture and regional & community planning department of the College of Architecture, Planning & Design and a research associate professor in the civil engineering department of the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.
This award is given to an online instructor or faculty member who has provided outstanding online teaching, course development, mentoring of students and service to the field of continuing education.
In the materials submitted for Newmark's nomination, one student wrote, "Professor Newmark has a clear talent and passion for teaching, evidenced by his ability to reach students and cultivate an interest in planning issues. These qualities were certainly tested in recent years, as faculty and students alike adjusted to university life during a viral pandemic. Throughout the semester, Professor Newmark taught every lecture synchronously, coordinated guest lectures via Zoom and maintained a clear and dependable schedule. As a student, I deeply appreciated and benefited from this level of consistency, as COVID-19 created an atmosphere of change and uncertainty for everyone."
"As many learned during the pandemic, teaching online provides a unique set of challenges for both faculty and students," said Karen Pedersen, dean of K-State Global Campus. "Global Campus is proud to honor faculty and instructors who exemplify teaching excellence and student support in online education."
