Faculty, staff invited to interactive theater performances
K-State faculty members are encouraged to attend Theater Delta’s "Cultivation: An Interactive Theater Performance on Faculty Mentorship of Graduate Students" from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 30 at the K-State Student Union in the KS Ballroom. Topics to be covered include: accessibility/boundaries, critical feedback, decision making around research, information distribution and favoritism.
Theater Delta uses interactive theater — scripted and improvisational audience participatory theater — to promote dialogue and social change in communities around the globe. Theater Delta believes that when people participate in creating drama on stage, they are more likely to explore and change personal attitudes and behaviors in their own lives.
Theater Delta will also put on two additional performances for students, faculty and staff:
"Dilemmas: An Interactive Theater Performance on Research Ethics and Scholarly Integrity" from 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theater. Topics to be discussed include: plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, data fabrication and dealing with stress.
"Down in the Dumps: An Interactive Theater Performance on Depression and Suicide Ideation" will be 7:30-9 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Little Theater. Topics to be discussed include definitions and symptom recognition, clinical depression versus sadness, how to help others and how to help yourself.
All events are free to attend and sponsored by the Graduate School, Graduate Student Council, Student Governing Association and Union Program Council.
