Submitted by Ashley Nietfeld

The deadline has been extended to submit a proposal for the 40th Academic Chairpersons Conference presented by Kansas State University Global Campus. You are invited to submit a proposal to present at the conference in New Orleans, Feb. 8-10, 2023. The deadline to submit a proposal has been extended to Sunday, Sept. 18.

The conference brings together academic chairpersons, administrators and faculty from all areas of higher education to share the most successful, innovative ideas and strategies to assist each other in becoming more effective in their positions. The purpose of the conference is to provide practical, applicable information in a climate of open discussion and collaborative exchange.

A wide variety of topics are presented by experienced department chairs and nationally recognized experts. Nearly 400 academic leaders participate in this conference to listen, share, inspire and network with faculty who represent all disciplines and universities of all sizes.

Proposals are being accepted for 105-minute interactive workshop sessions and 50-minute best practice presentations. Presentations are categorized into five broad themes to provide strong direction for the conference. The presentation themes:

  • Enrollment/Budget Management Evaluation and Assessment.
  • Emerging Trends in Higher Education.
  • Becoming an Effective Servant Leader.
  • Operating the Department.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Find more information about presentation themes and how to submit a proposal on the conference website. Questions should be directed to Tony Ballard, conference planner, at tballard@k-state.edu.
