Fifth annual All-Star Marching Band a success
The K-State Bands hosted its fifth annual All-Star Marching Band on Sept. 9-10. A replacement for the former Band Day, 175 students from more than 38 Kansas high schools were on campus learning a joint halftime show they performed individually and with the K-State Marching Band.
From 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 9, these 175 students learned drill for their own performance of Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger." In addition, they learned drill for a combined performance with the K-State Marching Band to Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U." They worked with K-State Director of Bands Frank Tracz, band graduate teaching assistants and K-State Marching Band leadership to put the music and drill together for a performance 24 hours later. Additionally, these students got to experience a game day in Bill Snyder Family Stadium firsthand. Needless to say, these high school students will be future members of The Pride of Wildcat Land very soon.
The K-State Bands also hosted its annual Band Director Day. Twenty Kansas band directors observed the K-State Marching Band's Sept. 10 rehearsal, were treated to an early lunch, and got a seat to watch a classic Big 12 rivalry against Missouri. A special thank you goes to Gene Taylor and everyone at K-State Athletics for making these events possible.
