First Friday with Ebony Theatre returns for October LGBT history
K-State's Ebony Theatre and the K-State LGBT Resource Center will host First Friday from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, in the Sandy Chastan Purple Masque Lobby. The October event will honor the contributions of the LGBTQ Black community to the historical arts of music, theater, dance and literature.
First Friday is a monthly arts-infused social gathering that gives a variety of performers a chance to share their work while attendees gather for conversation and refreshments. Co-sponsors of former First Friday events include the LGBTQ student organizations, Black Student Union, and the Native American Student Body and Indigenous Faculty and Staff Alliance.
October's First Friday will feature live jazz music, guest speakers and an open mic inspired by the influence of the Harlem Renaissance on contemporary arts movements and the month of October as LGBT History Month.
Ebony Theatre's First Friday is free and open to the public.
