K-State band concerts Nov. 30 and Dec. 1
The K-State band program will present its final fall semester concerts in McCain Auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and Thursday, Dec. 1. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free to the public.
On Wednesday, Nov. 30, the Wind Ensemble will perform works by Kimberly Archer, James Skyler, Anthony Barfield and Arturo Marquez. They will be joined by Dan Hinman, professor of trombone at K-State, on "Barfield’s Red Sky." Jay Gilbert, director emeritus at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska, will be guest conducting Marquez’s "Danzon No. 2." The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, the Concert Band and Wind Symphony will perform. The Concert Band will begin by performing works by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Eric Whitacre, Michael Markowski, Richard Saucedo and Randall Standridge. The Concert Band will be conducted by graduate students Olivia Bazanos, Cally Bitterlin, Tyler Lee, Preston Thomas and Travis Turner.
The Wind Symphony will follow by performing works by Rossano Galante, Julie Giroux, and John Mackey. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Alex Wimmer, assistant director of bands.
