Submitted by School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
The K-State Bassoon Studio will host a recruitment event for area middle and high school bassoonists from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in Kirmser Hall.
It is free to register, and it's an opportunity to learn more about the bassoon. Attendees will have the chance to get specific help, perform as a group and learn about exciting opportunities at Kansas State University. Register for the event online.
Susan Gustavson Maxwell, teaching associate professor, is the instructor of the K-State Bassoon Studio.
Maxwell has dedicated her career to three dimensions of musicianship; she is a teacher, performer and reedmaker. Maxwell is the first developer and retailer of a bassoon tool created and named for a woman. Maxwell's performance engagements have included the Kansas City Symphony, Kansas City Lyric Opera, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Lincoln Symphony, Wichita Symphony, the Lake Shore Symphony in Chicago, Illinois, and Orquesta Sinfónica de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico.
