Submitted by School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
The K-State Collegium Musicum early-music ensemble and the newly formed Blue Earth Camerata will present "Sweet Was the Song," a concert of Medieval chant and Renaissance vocal polyphony chosen to complement the stunning acoustic of the new St. Isidore's Catholic Student Center, at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22.
The concert will feature works by St. Godric of Finchale, Thomas Campion, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Lodovico Grossi da Viadana, Orlando Gibbons, Heinrich Isaac, Alonso Lobo and more.
The K-State Collegium Musicum is Kansas State University's primary ensemble for the historically informed performance of music from the 18th century and before.
The Blue Earth Camerata is a new semiprofessional early-music ensemble currently comprised of Kansas State University alumni in northeast Kansas.
Both ensembles are directed by David Simmons Wood, advanced instructor of music in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
