K-State Libraries secures new open access publishing agreements
K-State Libraries has secured three new open access publishing agreements with the following publishers:
- Company of Biologists.
- Institute of Physics.
- Microbiology Society.
These new agreements offer K-State faculty, staff and students the opportunity to publish articles as open access in select journals without paying article processing charges, which are covered by the Libraries' agreement. Because details differ between publishers, it is important to review the open-access publishing link above.
Open access publishing agreements can reduce the cost for researchers to share their works, an important component of improving learning environments. Open access practices can remove longstanding barriers to access and enable greater dissemination of scholarly research.
"Publishing an article open access allows greater exposure for your research and ideas," said Michelle Turvey-Welch, head of content development with the Libraries. "It also supports the land-grant spirit by providing research to all, regardless of financial circumstances."
