Rebeca Paz receives April Sincere Appreciation for Student Success Award
Submitted by Office of Student Success
The Office of Student Success recognized Rebeca Paz, assistant director of the Office of First-generation Students, with the April Sincere Appreciation for Student Success, or SASS, Award.
Paz was nominated because of her ability to tackle challenges, connect with her Student Success colleagues, and contribute to the unit's climate for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Among other contributions, Paz has volunteered to support and guide the Developing Scholars Program, or DSP, by supporting students and staff during a period of transition. Her work with the Developing Scholars Program and first-generation students aims to improve the experience for students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education.
Her nominator wrote, "Rebeca has been responsive and attentive to all and has skillfully helped plan the DSP research symposium. Staff and students have felt heard, supported, and appreciated."
Paz was recognized at the Student Success April 2023 Town Hall and received the Purple Reign trophy to display for the next month.
The SASS Award is an initiative of the Office of Student Success to recognize and celebrate the work of those within the Student Success unit. Nominees are recognized for their ability to form campus partnerships; creative problem-solving; influence on campus' climate for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; and more. Nominees are accepted on a rolling basis and selected monthly. For more information, please email studentsuccess@k-state.edu.
