Two members of Kansas State University's Blue Key Senior Honorary class of 2022-2023 are recipients of the William L. Muir II and John T. Muir Alpha Tau Omega Blue Key Leadership Scholarship for their commitment, dedication, support of others, unselfishness and willingness to help.

Jenika Hazelbaker, senior in agronomy and Spanish, Wentzville, Missouri, and Kaleo Vincent, senior in athletic training and rehabilitation sciences, Valley Center, each received a $1,000 scholarship and plaque.

The Muir Alpha Tau Omega Blue Key scholarships were first presented in 1999 to honor two brothers and K-State alumni, William "Bill" Muir and John "Tom" Muir, who were members of the Blue Key classes of 1939 and 1940, respectively. Blue Key recognizes college students at senior institutions of higher education for balanced and all-around excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Scholarship winners are selected by their fellow Blue Key class members.

Presenting the scholarships to Hazelbaker and Vincent during the annual Blue Key banquet on April 30 was Bill Muir, president of the ATO Endowment Fund and retired K-State assistant vice president.

Hazelbaker was the director of membership for Blue Key. She has been vice president for the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, director of multicultural outreach for Student Foundation, and a member of Wheat State Agronomy Club. Hazelbaker has also devoted time to International Buddies and the KSU Foundation. She has interned for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, WinField United, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. After graduating with honors this spring, Hazelbaker will pursue a master's degree at the University of Arkansas.

Vincent was the co-director of Quest Freshman Honorary for Blue Key. She has been a member of the Snyder Leadership Legacy Fellows, part of the enrichment committee for the Staley School of Leadership Ambassadors, and a facilitation lead for Connected 'Cats. She studied abroad in Orvieto, Italy, in summer 2022. Vincent has also served as a class leader for Introduction to Leadership Concepts for the Staley School of Leadership and a resident assistant for Housing and Dining Services. After graduating with honors this spring, Vincent will pursue a community and stakeholder career in the Washington, D.C., area.
