Advisor Forum presents May Charlie Award
The K-State Advisor Forum announces Paige Adams, teaching associate professor at K-State Olathe, has been selected for the May Charlie Award.
Adams was nominated for this award by her colleague, Lauren Racki, because of her "dedication to learning, students, professionals, and growing K-State in an impactful and applicable way."
Racki writes, "Dr. Adams always goes above and beyond for students and prospective students! She takes the time to meet with the recruitment team regularly, understands each prospective student's interests and goals, and regularly attends recruitment events.
As an advisor, she tracks her students' progress with the team, follows up regularly to help them stay on track or understand their progress plan, and always offers professional connections. In partnership with the student services team, she has created a Canvas course for all of her students to connect and learn about job opportunities or other professional development they might be interested in. She is known to bake treats to share with her students for class, meetings or thesis presentations!
Beyond graduation, Adams enjoys connecting alumni and current students. Recently, Adams helped develop and coordinate a Lab Skills Workshop geared for current students and other area STEM undergraduates. This project was a partnership with a local bioscience company to offer an affordable opportunity to learn basic lab skills and network with area professionals. It was very well received and executed. The audience for this workshop was not only for K-State Olathe students but any area undergraduates or young professionals. Her goal is to help people connect and grow in their profession, regardless of where the student will eventually decide to go for graduate education. She truly loves helping people grow.
The K-State Advisor Forum thanks Adams for the work she has done and congratulates her on this award.
