Chambers selected to participate in Congressional Hill Day
Submitted by Jennifer Thornburg
Megan Chambers, director of recruitment at K-State Global Campus, was one of four higher education professionals in Kansas to represent the state and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, or AACRAO, at Congressional Hill Day on June 22 in Washington, D.C.
The association's Hill Day allows members to engage with congressional offices to discuss their work and share perspectives on how policy impacts the work they do daily. This year, participants advocated for the following legislative priorities on behalf of the association: Higher Education Act reauthorization policy priorities, support for the Double Pell campaign, updates to FERPA, advancing reverse transfer practices, and protecting Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status recipients.
While in Washington, D.C., Chambers met with four different offices from both sides of Congress: Rep. Ron Estes, Rep. Sharice Davids, Rep. Jacob LaTurner, and Sen. Roger W. Marshall.
Chambers spoke of the meetings, "Each one was full of great conversation and packed with information on how each policy impacts us, as practitioners, and the students we work with every day. It was an honor to represent AACRAO, the state of Kansas, and Kansas State University."
