NSF Major Research Instrumentation program internal notifications due Aug. 11
The National Science Foundation's Major Research Instrumentation, or MRI, program changed its long-time mid-January due date to a date in mid-November.
This means that the internal notification — working title, team/researcher list, submission type — due date for this very popular limited submission program changed to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, this year rather than the mid-September deadline that has been standard in the past. Internal preproposals will be due by 5 p.m. Sept. 1. The notification and preproposals should be submitted to the Office of Research Development via ordlimitedsubs@k-state.edu.
NSF's Major Research Instrumentation program supports the acquisition of a multi-user research instrument that is commercially available through direct purchase from a vendor, or for the personnel costs and equipment that are required for the development of an instrument with new capabilities, thereby advancing instrumentation capabilities and enhancing expertise for instrument design and fabrication at academic institutions. Major Research Instrumentation instruments are, in general, too costly or not appropriate for support through other NSF programs.
