Submitted by Cailin Riley

The popular Hale Library Concert Series will resume on Sept. 29.

The popular Hale Library Concert Series will resume on Friday, Sept. 29.

On Sept. 29, in celebration of the tricentennial of J. S. Bach's appointment as director of church music in Leipzig, this all-Bach concert will feature his whimsical "Coffee Cantata" and other significant masterworks. Performers will include Manhattan's chamber chorale, the Blue Earth Camerata conducted by David Wood, and K-State flute professor Colleen White.

On March 1, 2024, internationally renowned pianist and K-State professor of piano Slawomir Dobrzański will perform a varied recital of keyboard classics by Bach, Mozart, Clara Schumann and Chopin. Also on the program will be short masterworks by Charles Ives and Arnold Schönberg in commemoration of the 150th anniversaries of their births.

On April 19, 2024, the Sorores Duo — Amy Rosine, soprano, and Sandra Mosteller, clarinet — with guest pianist Richard Fountain will present works composed for the ensemble by Gwyneth Walker, as well as a modern retelling of the classic love story "Orpheus and Euridice" by Ricky Ian Gordon, one of America's greatest living composers of vocal music.

The final concert of the 2023-24 season will be the traditional Jazz in June concert on Friday, June 14, 2024. Paul Hunt, trombone, Wayne Goins, guitar, Beau Jarvis, piano, and friends will perform an evening of jazz while the audience enjoys beverages and hors d'oeuvres in a cabaret-like environment.
