K-State band program to perform October concerts

The K-State band program will present concerts on Monday, Oct. 2, and Tuesday, Oct. 3, in McCain Auditorium. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free to the public.

On Monday, Oct. 2, the Wind Ensemble will perform works by Goldman, Rodriguez, Trevino, Britten Chambers and Bernstein. The Kansas premiere of "When the Wind Speaks" by Arturo Rodriguez will feature Colleen White, K-State professor of flute, and Jonathan Borja, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse professor of flute. "Run to the Light" by Ivan Trevino will feature Houston Fleischmann, K-State master's student in percussion performance, and Nathan Smith, K-State undergraduate student in percussion performance. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands, and will feature guest conductor Heather Baker, doctoral student.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Concert Band and Wind Symphony will perform. The Concert Band will begin by performing works by Copley, Ticheli, Stevens, Sheldon and Bilik. The Concert Band will be conducted by Zack Deininger, assistant director of bands, and will feature guest conductor Rich Ebersole, master's student.

The Wind Symphony will follow by performing works by Galante, Thomas, Vaughan Williams and Sousa. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Alex Wimmer, associate director of bands, and will feature guest conductor Tyler Lee, master's student.
