Military and veterans affairs director to testify to US Senate
Retired Lt. Col. Art Degroat, founder and executive director of K-State's Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, will testify at a joint hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Senate Committee on Armed Services in a presentation titled "Military to Civilian Transition: Ensuring Success After Service." The hearing will commence at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
The hearing will first examine the collaborative efforts of federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the Department of Labor, and the Government Accountability Office, to provide our nation's service members with resources and support during and after their transition to the civilian population. During a second panel, DeGroat will share his views from research and practice on improving the operation of programs and services to further enable this mission.
This will be the fourth time that DeGroat's work at K-State will be shared through Senate testimony. K-State is recognized as a national leader in thought and policy leadership in veterans' transition challenges.
