Kurt Foley achieves certified energy manager designation
Kurt Foley, energy specialist with Engineering Extension's Kansas Energy Program, has achieved full status as a certified energy manager, or CEM, through the Association of Energy Engineers.
Foley passed the certified energy manager exam in October 2020. Due to the association's stringent requirements for the designation, Foley was considered as an energy manager-in-training only until he completed four years of service in an energy-related field. Since that time, Foley has worked with the Kansas Energy Program to provide energy assessments for agricultural producers and rural small businesses in Kansas and assist those entities in applying for the USDA Rural Energy for America Program grants. Foley also provides energy education to K-12 schools in Kansas and is the lead on the Kansas Energy Program's K-12 Energy Benchmarking Project.
"We are extremely proud of Kurt's accomplishment," said David Carter, director of Engineering Extension. "He has diligently put in the time required for CEM certification and is an incredible asset. We are proud to welcome another CEM into the ranks of the Kansas Energy Program."
