Students to present capstone research projects
Students in the natural resources and environmental sciences, or NRES, secondary major capstone course will discuss findings from their semesterlong interdisciplinary research projects from 9:40-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in 1066 Rathbone Hall. Undergraduate researchers this semester come from four different majors in the colleges of Agriculture, Arts and Sciences and Engineering.
Two projects will be presented in both seminar and poster formats, including "Habitat Suitability Modeling for Least Terns in Riley County" and "Predicting Downstream Effects of Water Injection Dredging at Tuttle Creek on the Big Blue River." Students were mentored this semester by Trisha Moore, associate professor of biological and agricultural engineering; and Harsimran Sodhi Singh, NRES graduate fellow in geography and geospatial sciences.
The presentations are open to the public. Undergraduate students interested in natural resources, environmental science and sustainability issues are especially encouraged to attend. The NRES secondary major is open to all Kansas State University students and is supported by College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Sciences, biological and agricultural engineering department, and geography and geospatial sciences department.
