Attend Konza Prairie Soup and Song event Jan. 21

The Friends of Konza Prairie Soup and Song event will take place from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, in the Ashland Community Center, 2901 W. 32nd Ave. in Manhattan.
Join us for a speaker, soups and songs celebrating the Konza Prairie and the community that loves it.
4 p.m. — Welcome and KEEP report, followed by a talk by Derrick Doty, musician, historian and Humanities Kansas speaker. Doty will use storytelling, music and song to reveal the musical traditions of Kansas and its musicians from the Territorial era up through the age of recording and radio.
5 p.m. — Soup potluck with a performance by Tallgrass Express. Annie Wilson, Carl Reed and Derrick Doty, all singer-songwriters, will bring the look and sound of the Flint Hills to listeners. With lyrical storytelling and high-caliber musicianship, they celebrate the landscape and culture of their beloved region.
No reservations are needed. The cost is $10 per person.
