Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing
The Kansas Board of Regents meeting on Jan. 17 included several items related to K-State. For more information about these items, see the January meeting agenda PDF or view the recorded meeting on YouTube.
Consent agenda
The Regents approved performance reports for the 2022 academic year. Institutions negotiate new performance agreements with the board on a three-year cycle. To be eligible for any new funding appropriated, each institution must submit an annual report updating the Regents on its progress toward meeting each performance agreement indicator. K-State qualifies for 100% of any new funding for which it is eligible because the university maintained the baseline or improved from the baseline in at least four indicators.
K-State received approval to amend the fiscal year 2024 capital improvement project plan and to accept the revised program statement for the Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation. The project scope has been refined to enhance its scope and to address specific needs. Additionally, the livestock competition arena and horse unit have been separated from the original program and will be submitted to the Regents as individual programs. With the revised project scope, the project cost has increased to $166.2 million.
Discussion agenda
The Regents received information from K-State, Wichita State University and the University of Kansas related to the funding for research and development activities and the impacts on the Kansas economy.
The Regents approved amendments to the board's policy on non-reappointment of university employees other than tenured and tenure-track faculty.
K-State received approval to name two spaces in the new animal sciences livestock arena and multiple interior spaces.
