NACADA now offering microcredentials
NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising has added microcredentials to its array of professional development offerings beginning this month.
Academic advisors who successfully earn microcredentials — concise, skill-based recognitions that validate expertise in a particular area — receive digital badges as a visual representation of their achievement. Microcredentials are earned after successfully completing one of NACADA's eTutorials.
Kyle Ross, NACADA executive director, said interest in NACADA's microcredentials is evident by the increase in eTutorial registrations.
"We doubled registration in multiple eTutorials offered in February in just three business days," Ross said. "Our eTutorials were specifically designed to address hot topics, and now with microcredentials, academic advisors can demonstrate mastery in these important areas to colleagues, employers, and future employers."
NACADA offers several eTutorials each month. Registration is open through March 4 for March's eTutorials, which are Advising First-Generation Students, Advising Transfer Students, Creating Online Flipped Advising Activity Modules, and Theory and Practice of Advising.
Please visit the NACADA microcredentials webpage for details and registration deadlines.
