Summer undergraduate research programming available

Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research is hosting summer undergraduate research experience shared programming. Any summer undergraduate research programs are welcome to register and join these events. Through a partnership with existing summer experiences, Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research will facilitate the following events with the purpose of creating a strong network and sense of community for summer undergraduate researchers:
- Kickoff Ice Cream Social — 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the lobby and Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. RSVP online. Welcoming remarks to be given at the beginning, then Call Hall ice cream and other refreshments will be served. Any member of the university community is welcome to attend.
- Professional Development Session 1: Research Ethics — 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building and via Zoom.
- Professional Development Session 2: Fellowships and Graduate School Applications — 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building and via Zoom.
- Professional Development Session 3: Short Summer Synopses preparation — 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building and via Zoom.
- Short Summer Synopses — Tuesday, July 23, time TBD, likely beginning in the afternoon. Location TBD. RSVP online. Inspired by Three-minute Thesis events commonly hosted, this event will showcase brief reviews of the discoveries made by undergraduate researchers this summer. Any member of the university community is welcome to attend. A schedule of events will be announced in mid-summer.
- Professional Development Session 4: Panel with past summer researchers — 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building and via Zoom.
If any member of the university community has participated in a summer research experience as an undergraduate and wishes to serve as a panelist, please contact SDUR@k-state.edu. Attendees will gain advice and information about research life after such experiences.

Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research is in the Staley School of Leadership. The Staley School also includes undergraduate and graduate leadership studies academic programs, leadership and service co-curricular programs, and the University Honors Program.
