Start a sewing project at the Innovation Lab

Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

Have you ever dreamt of turning a vision into a beautiful garment, a comfy quilt or a perfectly tailored bag? The Makerspace at the Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab in Hale Library can help you turn those dreams into reality.

Whether you need a workhorse like the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 models or a machine for fancy stitches like the Elna DIVA 9000, the Makerspace has you covered. We also have machines that can help you finish knits, add embroidery finishes and manage tricky hems.

The Innovation Lab offers a huge collection of free-to-use fabric, donated by community members. You'll also find all the tools you'll ever need, including specialty scissors, quilt rulers, seam rippers and a wide selection of buttons and thread.

The Makerspace is a vibrant community where you can share ideas, collaborate on projects and inspire each other. Whether you're a curious beginner or a pro, there is always something new to learn and techniques to explore. A community that stitches together, stays together!
