Personal safety resources for the K-State community

Submitted by Taylor Provine

Welcome back to campus! K-State Division of Risk and Safety has a multitude of safety resources that we recommend you become familiar with.

Rave Guardian App: Provides direct connection to K-State police, one-click emergency to dial 9-1-1, Safe Walk virtual campus safety escort, two-way text communication with K-State police, call directory and campus alerts and updates. For more information on registering and downloading the Guardian app visit the Rave Guardian website.

Wildcat Walk: If you are ever uncomfortable walking on campus alone, dial 785-395-SAFE (785-395-7233) and an escort will meet you and walk you to another on-campus destination or up to two blocks off-campus. If you are driving to campus you can arrange to be met in your parking lot and be escorted to the residence halls or another location. Call 395-SAFE (785-395-7233), or push one of the blue light emergency buttons found throughout the K-State campus. This service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Wildcat Walk is a service provided by the K-State Police Department.

Blue light phone boxes: K-State police monitor numerous blue light phone call boxes located throughout the campus. These phone boxes are placed outside of buildings in heavily traveled areas to allow our campus community quick access to emergency services. You can also use these boxes to ask for directions or report a crime or accident. View the call box locations on campus.

SafeRide: Free and discounted late-night rides for K-State students. The mission of the SafeRide program is to save lives and prevent injuries and damage to property by offering students and their guests a safe alternative to drunken driving and other threatening situations. SafeRide uses Lyft for this resource, click here for directions to create or link your Lyft account.

K-State Alerts: K-State Alerts is the university's emergency notification system. It communicates time-critical emergency information that immediately impacts our campuses. This could be related to weather, campus operations, closures or other emergencies. To review your preferred and mobile numbers, students can confirm or update information in KSIS or employees can review and update information in HRIS. To manage your notification settings, visit the K-State Alerts online portal. If you need assistance, see the step by step guide to updating your settings.
